What are the 3D printing design guidelines?

Jewellery designs, gift ideas and miniatures; the opportunity for creativity is endless. However, to ensure a seamless 3D Print and Cast process, there are specific guidelines to follow allowing your designs to be printed to the highest quality.

You'll have to ensure the following are accurate:

  • The wall thickness- Your designs need to be a certain thickness to be able to withstand the 3D print process.

  • Ensure edges aren't too sharp- If two edges meet into a sharp point or edge they will not print very well

  • Avoid small holes- Holes should be no smaller than 0.5mm

  • Hollows/Multiple Pieces- Hollow pieces or interlocking pieces cannot be processed.

  • Watertight Models- A design must be watertight
