What are findings in jewellery making used for?

Findings are the small parts that make up a piece of jewellery such as clasps, jump rings, ear posts, scrolls and much more.

The most common types of jewellery findings are:

  • Clasps. Used to fasten and secure a necklace or bracelet such as a bolt ring or lobster catch.

  • Ear findings. Used to create earrings such as hook wires, posts and pins, scrolls and much more.

  • Jump rings. Used to connect two items together such as a clasp to a chain.

  • Beads and connectors. Can be added to any jewellery design.

  • Cufflink fittings. Used to create cufflinks and includes the blank and cufflink.
