What is PMC Clay?

PMC (or Precious Metal Clay) was developed by Mitsubishi of Japan in the 1990s. It is a patented mixture of of microscopic particles of silver mixed with a moist binder that creates a material with similar shaping properties to modelling clay.

You can mold PMC into complex shapes that would be harder to create using standard silver sheet or wire. It is then air dried and fired to temperatures near the melting temperature of the metal in the clay. The particles then fuse together to make a dense, fully metallic object.

Fired PMC works can then be treated like any other silver item. They can be soldered, polished and enamelled.
